In 2001, he was the project manager and co-author of the "Cycling Consumer of the New Millennium" research study which stands as the authoritative report on the U.S. adult bicycling consumer.
Elliot's media background includes research positions with leading publishers such as Rodale, Playboy, Meredith, and McCall's. He is a past president of the Media Research Directors Association, and has been a quoted source on adult bicycling and demographics in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and other publications.
With 50 years of experience in the bicycle industry, Jay has essentially done it all - advocacy, government relations, purchasing, marketing, strategic planning, and retail education. Prior to founding the Gluskin Townley Group LLC, Jay spent time as an independent consultant working with both suppliers and retailers.
Among the titles he's held in his career is VP, Marketing and VP, Purchasing for the Schwinn Bicycle Company, President of Giant Bicycle USA, President of Browning Automatic Transmissions, and Executive Director of the Bicycle Council.
Jay is typically the go-to person for insights on the U.S., European, and Asian bicycle markets and has been invited to speak at both domestic and international conferences. His annual seminar on market trends, held at the Interbike trade show, is typically received by a standing-room only crowd.
